How to convert CSV or Excel to ICS
Turn a spreadsheet of meetings, classes, shifts, or deadlines into an iCalendar (.ics) file. This free Excel to ICS converter lets you review the schedule before importing it into a calendar application.
- Upload a CSV or XLSX file, then choose a worksheet. You can also download the CSV template to see the expected layout.
- Map the required title, start, and end columns and choose the date format. Timed events need start and end times, either in the date cells or separate columns. Map all-day events, locations, and descriptions when available.
- Build the preview, choose the timezone for timed events, and fix date errors. Review duplicates and overlaps, then download the ICS file and import it using your calendar application's file-import option.
Frequently asked questions
What columns and date formats should my spreadsheet use?
Each included event needs a title, start date, and end date. Timed events also need start and end times, in the same cells as the dates or in separate mapped columns. Locations, descriptions, and an all-day column are optional. Use ISO dates such as 2026-09-14, or choose day/month/year or month/day/year explicitly with a four-digit year. The preview highlights rows that need correction.
Can I convert Excel to a calendar without saving a CSV first?
Yes. Upload an XLSX workbook directly and select a worksheet. The converter reads spreadsheet date cells and lets you map columns just as you would with a CSV. Replace formulas with their values before importing. Each file can be up to 5 MB, with up to 500 events and 40 columns.
How are timezones and all-day events handled?
After building the preview, select the timezone for your event times in the review section. Timed events are exported in UTC. Ambiguous or nonexistent local times around daylight-saving changes need correction. For all-day events, the end date you enter is inclusive; the converter writes the exclusive end date required by the ICS format.
Can I import the ICS file into Google Calendar, Outlook, or Apple Calendar?
These calendar applications support importing ICS files. Download the file and use your application's import option; this tool does not connect to your calendar or create events in your account. Review the imported dates and times before sharing the calendar.
Does it check for conflicts with my existing calendar?
It flags duplicates and overlaps among included events in the uploaded schedule, comparing timed events with timed events and all-day events with all-day events. It does not read your existing calendar. Fix errors and review warnings before export.
Is my spreadsheet uploaded, and can I convert PDFs?
Spreadsheet conversion runs locally in your browser; your file is not uploaded for processing. Refreshing clears the preview. Supported inputs are CSV and XLSX. Save legacy XLS workbooks as XLSX or CSV before importing. PDF and image extraction are not supported.
